Our client is a progressive and growing Brokerage Firm with locations stretched across Ontario.
This position is open to the following locations: Toronto/North York, Ottawa, Timmins, Cambridge or Sudbury.
Key Position Objective:
Reporting to the COO, the Director of Commercial Lines is responsible for the organic growth and profitability of the division. Responsibilities include the supervision of CL Managers and Team Leaders, driving the strategic direction and operational efficiency of our client’s Commercial Service Team. The Director will work with Managers to ensure client service expectation standards and KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators) are set and met each year in order to achieve departmental objectives.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Education Requirements:
a) Post-secondary Diploma / Degree; preferred education in business and/or insurance
b) CAIB/CIP/CRM designation required, or ability to obtain in short order
c) Training in commercial insurance, sales, service and management principals
d) RIBO license required
e) AMF License is an asset.
2. Experience Requirement:
a) 15+ years commercial lines experience with advanced knowledge in all areas of insurance
b) 10+ years’ experience in a senior leadership role, directly managing employees, supervisors and managers or equivalent education along with progressive practical experience
c) 10+ years’ experience successfully managing operating budgets, as well as developing and meeting strategic goals in corporate environment
d) 5+ years’ experience training and developing others, including succession and replacement planning
e) Experience coordinating and supporting a multi-site environment is an asset
f) Experience managing large scale change initiatives

a) Advanced knowledge of commercial lines insurance, market conditions and legislated compliance requirements
b) Above average Microsoft Office computer skills and working knowledge of TAM, PaperWise preferred
c) Understand the Employment Standards Act (Ontario), and the O.H.S.A.
