This role can be done out of any of these locations (Toronto, Halifax, Calgary, Vancouver, Montreal)

What it’s like to be a Corporate Property Underwriting Director

Our Director of Commercial Property, Corporate Underwriting works hard to set and maintain Companies’ commercial property underwriting guidelines and act as the technical referral point to the organization’s profit centers. They are people-centric leaders who truly care about the development of their teams and invest in their career growth while maintaining responsibility for directing all activities and ensuring maximum efficiency, and productivity is achieved.

A Director of Corporate Property will proactively look for ways to provide insight to help drive profitable growth of the commercial portfolio. They are passionate about working with others, and provide technical guidance to direct reports and various cross-functional departments including actuarial, claims, and risk services.

If you are great at:

Identifying trends and areas for opportunity in a Commercial portfolio

Engaging with cross-functional stakeholders to build better systems and processes

Keeping abreast of industry trends and working within a regulatory framework

Creating and modifying underwriting guidelines and wordings

Communicating with internal and external stakeholders

Developing and mentoring a team of direct reports

Providing leadership to improve Companies’ commercial property underwriting technical skill set

If you have:

10 years’ experience in commercial property insurance

3 years’ experience in a leadership role

Strong understanding of the Insurance Industry

Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent on the job experience
