IBAA Professional Development Facilitator

The serious stuff:
IBAA is looking for an experienced facilitator to take on a permanent role as Facilitator in our Professional Development Department. The Facilitator position is permanent and reports to the Director of Member Services & Marketing. This role will primarily be responsible to teach member and non-member students the comprehension and application of the various insurance concepts and topics required to challenge the Alberta General Insurance exams, our designation courses (CAIB, CSIP, CPIB), as well as additional courses required by our members.
The Facilitator needs to be upbeat and generate excitement about key concepts and areas of study. You may also be training other facilitators for classes in remote areas of Alberta. In addition you will be working on special projects as required, including researching and recommending quality online courses to further our mandate. Critical to this is a comprehensive understanding of insurance and experience as a facilitator.
You will be provided with the necessary materials needed to ensure you are familiar with the key concepts and requirements for excellent instruction. We offer various facilitated courses including 4-5 day immersion, Saturday fast track courses (4 Saturdays where numbers warrant) and webinars. As such, your schedule will need to be flexible, so 8:30- 4:30 may not be the norm.
The position involves travel throughout Alberta in order to meet the needs of students, and travel is estimated at approximately 40-50% of the role. Courses are offered on a regular basis in both Edmonton and Calgary with occasional travel to Red Deer, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and Grande Prairie. Other locations may be added depending on training needs.
What we are looking for:
· Current General Level 2 license in good standing with AIC
· Prior experience successfully facilitating insurance classes
· Broad understanding of both Personal and Commercial Lines developed through your 5 years of experience in the insurance industry, preferably as a broker
· Partial or completion of CAIB is ideal. Candidate must be willing to obtain it within 6 months of start date.
