THE ORGANIZATION

IBAM is a provincial association dedicated to providing innovative and progressive leadership through bold initiatives and a focused effort developing educational tools and powerful communication for brokers and consumers through engaging its 2000+ members. Its mission is to ensure insurance brokers are the primary provider of insurance products and services in Manitoba. IBAM is seeking a visible leader, driven by integrity, transparency and the need to build long-lasting relationships.

 

The OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will build on existing success, maintain IBAM as a progressive association while ensuring financial strength. This proactive leader will provide financial responsibility and accountability to IBAM and manage the delivery of the strategic plan. As an effective operator, the CEO will work closely with the Board, Committee Chairs and Members, Member Brokers, IBAM staff, government, leaders in the insurance industry, the media, and the broader public domain. S/he will also provide direction, coaching, performance management and supervision to direct reports.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Accountable for the implementation and execution of approved IBAM strategic and financial plans;
Identify initiatives and plans to attract new revenue to maximize long-term growth, while ensuring inclusion for the annual budget development cycle;
Lead with a collaborative approach when working with IBAM members to engage and seek ideas, input, and solutions;
Build on existing brand awareness, applying social media tools, attending key networking events, and acting as a key spokesperson for IBAM to the community, promoting success and opportunity;
Continue momentum provincially and nationally, acting as a political advocate and seeking positive, long-term relationships with government;
Capitalize on local, provincial and national insurance networks, rural relationships, carrier involvement and knowledge sharing within the broader scope;
Enhance Board and operational governance and provide fiscal stewardship / management, implementing controls with a resourceful and forward-looking focus;
Ensure accurate accounting and reporting, and administer cost-effective operational plans in support of the annual audit process;
Improve stability with key contract renewals, reassuring confidence for long-lasting solidarity; and
Assess IT requirements and update the delivery method for educational courses, exams and automation, achieved through the adoption of a new consumer-facing database and website.
SELECTION CRITERIA

Bachelors degree in related field, MBA and/or professional designation such as CSAE are assets;
Strong financial and business acumen;
Established political network and ability to foster new relationships;
Experience reporting to a Board of Directors;
Comfort in the adoption of new technology, digital tools, techniques and delivery methods;
Advanced leadership capability, coupled with a collaborative and proactive approach to impact organizational performance and maximize value; and
Level-headed individual with a successful track-record during times of stress/crisis and ability to manage change.
